The series of works is a result of an ongoing research on spatial-material linkages in sound. The limited frequency bands of the L-fold compositions unfold various psychoacosutic phenomena, often creating physical and tactile experiences. Superimposed with modulations caused by reflective surfaces of the space the piece is played in, L1-fold develops as situated experiences, born from acoustic tests with various sound systems from stereo to 40+ loudspeakers.
The first half of 2026 brought two performances. L1-fold 13032702 was diffused on the GRM Acousmonium in March 2026, transferring the composed spatial-material instances into the acoustic environment of a concert hall through 44 + loudspeakers of differing timbral quality; live diffusion as a technique for working with spatiality was a focal point of the listening there. The performance that followed - at Patch Studio in April 2026 - built on a non-fixed temporal structure: narrow-band material mixed with the real-time transmission of a microphone placed outside the space. The performance was diffused manually over three loudspeakers on the ground and an elevated PA. Rough cuts between the speakers unfold a dynamic shifting of spatial qualities, while later smooth transitions and the manual movement of a 15-inch driver bring rich modulations of the tone interacting with the acoustics.
